Ladies on Juneteenth

On this day 120 years ago, the 6 women and two little girls seen in the photo celebrated Juneteenth in this lovely horse-drawn float. Freedom bells rang for their parents and grandparents only 60 years prior.
Their float was either commissioned or created by (or both) the Spirit of Charity Art Club. The structure is beautifully adorned in flowers and ribbons/streamers of unknown colors.
I’m certain the sepia-toned photo is not doing their handiwork any justice, but we can use our imaginations. Happy Juneteenth, y’all.
